As exemplified by the drawings by William cameron menzies, storyboards are series of drawings representing the shots designed for a movie or television production. Storyboards usually have some dialogue and instructions and they provide various functions such as;


  1. Story boards plan camera movements by showing the intended pan, tilt, or zoom of a camera.
  2. It establish framing (determines what should be expressed on the video, and the locations of the borders of the shot).
  3. It also provides blocking and focus information (determines the position of the actors in relation to each other, and also who or what should be in focus, and if the focus change).
