Ponyboy realizes that he doesn't like Dally because his viewpoints towards life are too realistic unlike the others, which is very different from Ponyboy's childish world outlook. He describes Dally as a too real.. too human person , and says that it scares him. Dally was not good to girls, he was very direct, raw and real and this reality frightens Pony so much that he tries to avoid Dally.
