Answer:

The anti federalists consisted of the farmers, landowners, shopkeepers, labourers and they opposed the constitution. They didn't support the ratification of US constitution because they were afraid that the central government would grow too strong in the absence of bill of rights and it would encroach upon peoples' right. Their opposition led to the passage of bill of rights. The constitution needed to be ratified by nine states to become functional and clashes erupted over the issue of bill of rights, it was solved withe the Massachusetts Compromise.
