The statement that type 1 diabetes occurs when the body produces too much insulin is false. In contrast, type I diabetes is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone needed to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells to produce energy. As a result the blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high.
