soil contains minerals, organic matters, air and water. it is formed from weathering of rock which provides the mineral content. air n water are the two main sources of weathering. during the weathering process, organic matters such as leaves get mixed in to form the layer of soil.

Soil forms from the parent soil which is rich in mineral and Organic materials. After a long time, with the help of a favorable climate and Sunlight, it makes soil more organic, in other words...more mature. Then, the formation of soil also affected by the biological influence such as plants, fungi etc. they help recycle nutrients by decaying as well as by taking up nutrients.

Hope this helps!
