we know that

then

by proportion

(MO)/(ML) =(MP)/(MN)

we have that

$MO=28\ units \\ML=28+14=42\ units\\MP=y\ units\\MN=(y+18)\ units$

substitute

$(28)/(42) =(y)/((y+18))\\ \\28(y+18)=42y \\ \\42y-28y=28*18 \\ \\14y=504 \\ \\y=36\ units$
