Use PEMDAS. (Parenthesis, Exponent, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction) to remember the order of operations.
Parentheses first. -3^2+(-15)+9
Exponent 9+(-15)+9
There's no M/S (multiplication/division)
A/S add and get 9+(-15)=-6
-6+9=3.
