So with basic Algebra, the point is to get the variable on one side, and the number on the other.
(x-11)/4 = 10.
multiply both sides by 4 to get rid of 4 on the left.
x-11=40
add 11 to both sides.
x=51
and that's the solution (:

so first you want to find x on its own, so we multiply both sides by 4.
This gives you x - 11 = 40
Then you add 11 to both sides in order to get rid of the - 11 on the left side.
This gives you x = 44
