In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part.

Answer: I will say C) shrewd

Explanation: This stanza is part of a poem "Seven ages of Man" by William Shakespeare. The Poem is about the stages of life - which aren't exactly roles, but more stages of development. The stages are: 1) baby, 2) school 3) lover, 4) soldier/fighter - passionate believing in something, willing to fight, 5) regular worker - stable, formal, comfortable life, 6) old age - the decline, back to weaker state , 7) death - when man is reduced to being like a baby again (helpless, weak) and dies. This particular stanza describes the fifth stage in which a man can work and applies shrewdness to everything he does.
