First turn 5/9 and 5/6 into equivalent fractions which you will get 10/18 and 15/18. Then bring back the whole numbers and turn the into improper fractions which you will get 172/18 and 126/18. Then subtract, and you will get 46/18. And the turn that into a whole number which is 2 5/9

First, you need to set aside the whole numbers. Next, you have to find the common denominator for 5/9 and 5/6
The common denominator is 18.
It would then be 10/18- 15/18
10/18- 15/18 = -5/18
So now bring the whole numbers back 9-6= 3
So now you subtract 5/18 from 3 which equals 2 13/18
