What is the connection between the Declaration of Independence and the first principle of popular sovereignty? Also, it would be great if you could include 1 or 2 quotes from the declaration of independence that have to do with it.

The declaration of independence said that the colonies should be able to govern themselves. Popular sovereignty says that states should govern themselves. The similarity is that people govern their own country.
