Why are there not many artefacts of Jesus?

I think the reason for this is that the man Jesus was not a prominent governmental leader. He was essentially an itinerant preacher, with few possessions, and eventually suffered the death penalty under Pontious Pilot in Rome early in his life.

The time when Jesus was alive, was a very, very, very long time ago. I'm sure there are artifacts of Jesus we just haven't found them yet.
