Large bodies of water, such as lakes and oceans, do not quickly fluctuate in temperature. What is the reason for this phenomenon?

One reason is because the deeper it is the less sunlight will reach it and the sun gives off which is how we and smaller bodies capture these temperatures.
Another reason is because of the size which influences how rapidly or slow it will retain the heat energy.
