Russia's defeat in the Crimean War of 1853 was due to the countries slow industrialization process. During that time, the country's economy was still dominated by agrarian production, while its European Counterparts are fully developed after their Industrialization Process started in the 18th century. As a result, Russia was unable to claim lands from the declining Ottoman Empire because of the negative from British and French forces to cede any territory to the Russians.
