What are implicit details, and how do these contribute to the process of interpreting the theme of a story.

Implicit details are details that are carefully hidden in between the text that readers have to pick apart and piece together themselves. This gives the reader some sense of control while also making sure the story isn't too "easy" in a sense because all mysteries would just be explicitly told. Implicit details keep a story interesting and allow the reader to insert their own thoughts and ideas within a story.

Implicit details are those not explicitly stated by the author. For example, if he's describing someone's house and that things are broken, that might be an implicit description of the poverty of the society. There are many things like that that can show issues with the society and with the self.
