John's age is 2 years more than twice as old as Mary. The sum of their ages is 32. How old is each? (pls include equation and solution thx)

Mary would be 10 because 10 times 2 is 30 plus 2 more is 32 years.

M = Mary
J = John

Equation:
J = 2M + 2
M = ( J - 2 ) / 2
J + M = 32

J = 22
M = 10

2 * 10 = 20 + 2 = 22 = Johns age

Sorry, I can't figure out an equation. Just did trial and error
