a line that is paralell has the same slope
y=mx+b
m=slope
given
y=3x+6
3=slope
so the other line is y=3x+b
find b
given
(-2,-4)
x=-2 and y=-4 is a solution
subsitute
-4=3(-2)+b
-4=-6+b
add 6
2=b
y=3x+2 is the line
