the railroad became an important mode of transportation because it could carry larger loads of cargo and travel faster than a stage coach and railroad companies could charge people to ride a train somewhere, hope this helps

It became an important mode of transportation because it was cheap and it revolutionized travel, We built steam trains first to go on to the rails and we would sell goods using them. We brought materials all around the world, and we became a fast and easy way to get around! Hope this helps! ^-^
