What you want to do is divide all the fractions like 3 divided by 10, 1 & 5, and so on and then find the mean / average.

The average is just all of the amounts added together and then divided by 9 because that is how many days and data there were. I converted the numbers so they had the same denominator .
So 2/10+3/10+4/10+1/10+1/10+3/10+2/10+2/10+2/10= 20/10=2
You then divide this by 9
2/9= 2/9 inches per day on average
