Why did southern farmers oppose Hamilton's plans for the economy?

Southern Farmers opposed Hamiltons plans for the economy because he said that they must pay back money that they had made from the usage of bonds during the Civil War.  With this, his economic plans also favored large agricultural farms compared to smaller ones, which made it very hard for people to farm for a living unless they lived on a large amount of land
