The significance being this: monarchy did not end. Prior to Napoleon taking the crown, the French peasantry had a revolution. It's main goal being the end of monarch rule. But didn't really work.

Interpret the significance of napoleon Bonaparte taking the crown from the pope, and crowning himself, as emperor of france.
