What conditions prompted the american colonists to declare independence?

The American colonies chose to declare independence from Great Britain for a big amount of reasons. They believed that the British were treating the colonists unfairly. The British had passed many tax laws which impacted the colonists. In Parliament to vote on or discuss these laws, the colonists had no representatives.
