I believe the answer is: Casual research

Casual research is the type of research that being done in order to find a simple cause and effect relationship. This type of research is being done by matching up various independent variables in order to see if the match up could cause a certain type of change or reaction to the dependant variables.

I think the answer would be causal research. It investigates on an issue looking for an effect of a certain variable to that issue or object. It is focused on the effect one factor to the subject of the research. Hope this answers the question.
