Roosevelt hired numerous advisors from various ideological backgrounds. That was because he wanted to hear both sides and come up with a solution for problems based on objective analysis of problems. Some of his advisors were more socialist while others were more conservative/libertarian. In the end it was a good choice because it led to the New Deal program.
