Jermaine did this work to solve an equation. Did he make an error?

4x+6-r= 2x + 3
5x + 6 = 2x + 3

Answer:

First, I go by finding x and r.

After that, put the numbers (ie. x= # and r=#) into the equations. Check it by finding L.H.S and R.H.S. (ie. left hand side and right hand side)
