The Alliances allowed for tensions with other countries before the war. When Austria-Hungary developed conflict with Serbia, causing more members of the Triple Entente to declare war on Serbia as a way of backing them up in the alliance created which ultimately created two alliances. These are the Triple Entente and Triple Alliance, which transferred out into the war itself.
