Why did conflict arise in North America between France and Great Britain? (France and Britain Clash)

Both the French and British wanted to control the lands west of the Appalachian mountains. They were extremely competitive over power and wealth due to the fact that they were two of the strongest powers in Europe. But this was only the start. After the British took the Ohio River Valley, bitterness increased because France did not want to share to share the rich fur trade.
