To add vivid details with a narrative technique, an author tends to use figurative language and consciously chose the pacing of the narrative as well as the words and their collocation to convey the message. The use of concrete facts is not necessary, as for the purpose of adding vivid detail is to produce clear, powerful, and detailed images in the mind and evoke certain feelings within the reader, and this is usually achieved by the emotions or thought of a character, a subjective description of a particular setting, etc.
