Why is the war called the “French and Indian” war? Did the natives fight with the opposing side as well?

it was called that by the british because they were fighting against the french and indians

the british did however ally themselves with certain tribes

It is called the French and Indian war because they fought together, the natives did fight the opposing side as well.
