The base of a pyramid is a square with dimensions 12 in by 12 in. The height of the pyramid is 10 in. What is the slant height of the pyramid?

The slant height is the hypotenuse of the right triangle formed by the height and half the base length. Use the Pythagorean Theorem.

a² + b² = c²

6² + 10² = c²

36 + 100 = c²

136 = c²

√136 = √c²

c = 11.66 in
