One lap around a track is equal to one-eighth of a mile. A horse ran a distance of 9 laps in 2.5 minutes seconds. What was the horse’s average speed in miles per minute?

The horse ran a total of 1.125 miles so now you have a ratio of 1.125 : 2.500 and the other ratio is x : 1

To get to 1 you need to divide 1.125 by 2.5 and you should get 0.45 miles per minute
