5% of what number is 9(please explain how you got that)

I know. Ok so is over of equals present over 100. It's a proportion. So u cross mulitply. 9/x = 5\100. 900=5x dived by 5 on both sides. And whatever 900 divided by 5 is the answer

180 because 5 percent means that the number was broken into 20 parts, just like how 10 percent means that the number was broken into 10 parts (make sure when you multiply those it equals 100, so 5*20=100, 10*10=100) then you would to 9*20 to find the answer.
