because of the unrestricted attacks German submarines were making on American ships

U.S entered the war because of the 1. Zimmerman telegram (Germany created alliance with Mexico and would help to get back Texas and other territories).2.Germany sank many American merchant ships heading for England.This angered U.S and U.S entered WW I and fought Germany and its allies.
