When Christopher Columbus landed in the Bahamas, he called the native Arawak people __________.

He had called them Indians which is where the word Indian originated from, Indian was what he called them because of their similarity to the Indians :)

Indians, because he was trying to go to India by going west. It did not work, and that's why colonists called Native Americans "Indians".
