Soil can vary based on different climates. Where there is plenty of moisture in the air, the soil will be darker, damp, and soft. Where the air is hot and dry, the soil is more likely to crumble, and have a hard feel to it. It will also be lighter in color. Soil in the forest will be more like the damp, soft soil, while soil in the desert will be the harder type. Hope this helps.
