Chanticleer was suffering from terrible nightmares or dream-inducing malady. Pertelote intended to cure Chaticleer of his malady by making use of herbs. So, he gathered some herbs. Later, they think that Chanticleer's dreams are not actually nightmares but actually prophecies.
