There was a severe labor shortage in the North American colonies
When the colonist first arrives in the New world? plantations were run by indentured servants from England bases on a contract of usually 2 years and then we're free to do as they pleased. However white men from England were having a hard time adapting to the conditions and didn't appreciate how they were treated after serving their contracts demonstrated by Bacon's Rebellion.
