Perry made a wooden cube with an edge length of 8.5 inches in shop class. He painted half the faces of the cube red and the other half yellow. What is the surface area of the portion of the cube that is painted red?

You would find the area of one side, 8.5²
A cube has 6 faces, but you only need to know only half of them, 3.
So the equation would be 3 × 8.5²

17 inches because if you have a cube with one length all u have to do is multiply that length by 4 to find your surface area and he only painted half of the cube so u would divide that by 2
