Hi there!

There have been many Supreme Court decisions affecting the power of the federal government. Although most have ruled in favor of the national government, a couple cases have reaffirmed the power of the states. Nevertheless, the power of the federal government as affirmed through multiple Supreme Court decisions still stands to this day. One of the most prominent of such decisions is McCulloch v. Maryland. This case established that when it comes to clashes between laws of the state and federal governments, the federal government will almost always prevail. This reaffirmed the broad sweeping powers granted to the new national government through the Constitution.
