Answer: d. northern cities grew more diverse as African Americans shared their culture.

The Great Migration occurred between 1916 and 1970. It describes the movement of six million African Americans from the Southern United States to the Northeast, Midwest and West. These people were usually moving from rural areas to urban ones. It was one of the largest and fastest internal migrations in history. In 1900, more than 90% of African Americans lived in the South, but by the end of the migration, little more than 50% remained there.
