How were the red scare and the decline of unions connected?

the Red Scare feeds a fear of foreigners, in 1920 Nicola Sacco and A summer (and early fall) where blacks were attacked by whites in more than over 3,000, employers did not want pay increase and unions were labeled as communists the government, chiefly in connection with the building of veterans' hospitals.
