Since somebody (porter) is knocking on the door, the murderer who is the Macbeths are in panic. They weren't able to clean their hands well, afraid of getting caught and maybe after they opened the door, the murderer's face still cannot be drawn.

How does the porter's scene increase tension and suspense?
