How successful were legislative Compromises (Missouri Compromise, Kansas-Nebraska Act, Compromise of 1850) at relieving regional tensions?

They didn't do much at all to help anything besides speed up the Civil War. Each act or compromise just pushed the divide between the north and the south even more apart
