How could the United States, as a former colony, justify having its own imperial holdings?

Good Morning!

The justification taken by the United States to justify its imperialism was that, being itself an old colony, it now had the right and the obligation to "assist" neighboring nations by instituting a system of commercial and cultural influences to encompass Of the world. Part of this thinking is expressed in the doctrine of Manifest Destiny.
