How many liters of peroxide should be added to 12 liters of an 8% peroxide solution so that the resulting solution contains 16% peroxide

We have solution of 12 liters which has 8% peroxide solution.

Suppose we add x liters of peroxide in it.

It means mixture will be (x+12) liters.

This mixture should have 16 % of peroxide.

It means


(x+12)*(16)/(100)=(12*(8)/(100)) +x


(x+12)*0.16=(12*0.08) + x


0.16x+1.92=0.96+x


x-0.16x=1.92-0.96


0.84x=0.96


x=(0.96)/(0.84)=1.143

So the answer is 1.143.
