A population of deer in an area is 500. During the year, 90 fawns are born, and 10% of the adult deer are killed by wolves and human hunters. Is the population growing or shrinking, and what is the new population number? They are growing

Well 500 (let's say) are adult deer and 90 are the fawns. 10% of 500 is 50 so 50 were killed while 90 fawns were born. They are growing because 90-50=40. So they grew by 40 fawns. So. 500-50+90=540 or 500+40=540.
