What does "the emperor has no clothes" mean?

used to express when people believe something which isnt true or to express something as untrue... comes from the story about the emperor gets new clothes from weavers which he believes are very special, but they arnt clothes, he goes down the street naked and a child calls out "but the emperor has no clothes"
