The right answer is 4 gametes.

There are two types of cell division in eukaryotes: somatic cell mitosis and the generation of cells identical to the mother cell during asexual reproduction (thus retaining the genetic information), and meiosis which results in the production of sexual cells or gametes for reproduction.

In animals, meiosis is a process that occurs during gametogenesis (spermatogenesis or oogenesis), that is during the development of gametes (spermatozoa in males and ovules in females) in so-called diploid.

Meiosis thus allows the formation of 4 haploid daughter cells (or gametes).
