Suppose a student added the ethyl alcohol straight to the solution from the baggie WITHOUT filtering it through the cheesecloth first. What do you think the student would observe? Would the student be successful in extracting the DNA? Explain briefly why you think this.

I think students will be able to see fine white strands which are not soluble in ethanol.  DNA is not soluble in ethanol. The colder the ethanol, the less soluble the DNA will be in it.
