well, Mrs Stauffer has 27 students total
she made 5 dozen cookies, or 5 * 12 = 60 cookies

she got to class, and low and behold, 1/9 of her students
are absent at the Justin Bieber concert

how many students are there anyway?

well, if 1/9 are absent, 8/9 are present then
how much is 8/9 of 27?

\bf \cfrac{8}{9}\cdot 27 are present

keep in mind that 1/9 + 8/9 is 9/9 or 1 whole, thus 8/9 are there

now, Mrs Stauffer has 60 cookies to share among those, so
evenly that'd be
\bf \cfrac{60}{(8)/(9)\cdot 27}
